Step by Step Perch with Deer Creek Laser Dub
You will need
Thread Bed to build from |
So the first step being to lay down a bed of thread onto the shank of the hook, here im using Danvilles flat waxed 210d in fluro red
Select laser Dub |
Next up I choose the desired laser dub colour, in this case Chartreuse and remove a piece around 6" long as pictured
Place onto the shank |
Place across the shank evenly and secure down with a few wraps of thread
Pull the dub back around the other side of the hook |
Distribute the dub around the other side of the hook and secure down with a few wraps of thread over the first 3-5mm to ensure the dubbing does not simply get pulled out in the next step
Time for a good brush through |
Brush gently |
Brush through the dub with starting at the tip and working your way back to the hook
Post brushing |
After being brushed simple form back smoothly with your fingers
Next section of dub |
Take the next section of dubbing and gently pull apart so that when you place it onto the hook it goes around the hook well
Position the dub around the hook |
Secure down with a few wraps of thread |
Ensure the thread is secure |
Position the next section of dub the other side of the hook
Push back with your fingers |
Secure down the front with some thread |
Brush out and your left with this |
Now for some Olive 6" as all the others |
Secure down with thread |
Secure as before |
After Brushing |
Time for some Orange |
As before split to go around the hook |
Back to the Chartreuse |
Moving forward up the hook |
After Brushing you start to see the shape forming |
Take your time and don't worry about losing material while brushing |
You can swap and change the colours for your own preferences |
I wanted the Chartreuse inside the rear like this hence starting with it |
Ensure you make sure the dub is distributed as you desire before moving on |
Brush at every stage |
More Olive |
Nearly at the eye of the hook |
Chartreuse on top and orange on the bottom to finish |
A good brush through |
After forming back form a thread barrier in front of the material and whip finish before a final brushing
Add stripes or not to your own taste |
Choose some eyes and secure |
After adding stripes with a pro marker choose eyes and secure as you desire. I place small amount of resin on the back of the eye and then place into position and secure around the front thread and a small bead onto the eye as shown
Finished fly |
Get creative and change it up to suit yourself |
Plenty of sparkle and a great profile |
Thanks for looking and check back soon for the next Step By Step
